RESILAO: The call for marine and coastal resilience projects is open

Following the successful launch of the RESILAO project in May with national actors, partners, and donors, PRCM has opened its first call for projects. The aim is to fund innovative local conservation and blue economy initiatives.

This call initially targets four countries, namely Mauritania, Senegal, Cabo Verde and the Republic, and Guinea Bissau, with the objective of funding projects that contribute to one or more of the following three thematic areas of the RESILAO project:

  • Consolidating the network of sites for the conservation and restoration of coastal ecosystems
  • Developing value chains based on coastal ecosystem services for the emergence of a sustainable, social, and fair blue economy
  • Promoting innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of coastal areas

Selected projects will be eligible for €50,000 to €150,000 of funding, provided they are submitted by 23 August 2023 via this web page.

Country coaches, key figures of RESILAO

To ensure the smooth running of the project, PRCM organised workshops in June and July in each country where the project intervenes. These workshops brought together key actors who could be potential applicants. The objective was to present the call for projects, explain the participation requirements, offer methodological support, and provide insight into the specific environmental contexts of each country.

Additionally, the workshops were an opportunity to introduce the role of country coaches who serve as facilitators and liaisons between applicants and PRCM. At both the application and implementation stages of the selected projects, the coaches’ primary responsibility will be to provide fair methodological support to all actors involved. The RESILAO regional project seeks to strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems and communities in West Africa. PRCM is implementing this project with financial support from the Fonds francçais pour l’environnement mondial (FFEM) and the WACA/World Bank Program
