PRCM participated in the tenth WACA ResIP Regional Steering Committee in Mauritania

The tenth meeting of the WACA ResIP Regional Steering Committee was held in Nouakchott, Mauritania on 12-13 July with the participation of the West Africa Regional Partnership for Coastal and Marine Conservation (PRCM).

The meeting was attended by the Chairpersons of the National Steering Committees as well as representatives of the Commissions of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Ecological Monitoring Centre  (CSE) in Dakar, the Network of West African Marine Protected Areas (RAMPAO), the World Bank and the project coordinators in the beneficiary countries.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the status of project implementation, the activities of the WACA platform and the progress report on the regional component of the project. The key issues discussed included the application of community legislation on coastal and marine management, the establishment of the West African Regional Coastal Observatory, the preparation of the West African coastal assessment for 2024 and the progress of the implementation of the second phase of the WACA ResIP project.

PRCM will participate in the second phase of the WACA ResIP project scheduled to start in 2023.
