The Regional Partnership for Coastal and Marine Conservation in West Africa (PRCM) held its General Assembly meeting on September 7th, 2022 in Bissau in the presence of the Chief of staff representing the Minister of Environment and Biodiversity of Guinea Bissau. During this meeting, a presentation of PRCM implementation report, its strategic orientations for the period of 2023-2027 and a review of new membership applications, among others were core subjects discussed. Unanimously, the members praised the efforts made by the Executive Management for the results obtained, especially the success of the 10th edition of the Regional Coastal and Marine Forum, and for the mobilization of funds.
During this meeting, the Board of Directors underwent a partial renewal, with election of 7 people was unanimously decided. Thereafter, a directorate was set up and composed as follows:
- Chairman : Mr. Justino BIAI
- Secretary General: Mr. Jean Baptiste DEFFONTAINES
- Treasurer: Mrs. Ndickou GAYE
Speaking about his mandate and his intention to make the Partnership shine, the new SG Jean Baptiste DEFFONTAINES said: “I commend the confidence of the associates for appointing me as Secretary General for the period 2022/2023. This year will also be a year of transition. I commit myself, in this mandate, and with my peers, to accompany PRCM and its members, towards a reinforced technical and financial independence, consolidating the assets, for a coherence of continuous action, and adapted to the environmental stakes.”
