Dear partners and readers,

The end of the year 2022 is drawing near and it is time to take stock of our endeavors, both personally and professionally. We need to look at what has worked well, correct mistakes, celebrate “small victories” and look forward to new challenges in order to achieve inspiring performance.

At PRCM, the last six months have been marked, among other things, by a marathon race towards the preparation of the final evaluations of the action plans we are implementing. We are pleased to have successfully organized these meetings and, above all, to have achieved the results we did. We would like to commend the efforts of our partners that have worked alongside us to achieve our goals.

The year 2022 marks the end of MAVA’s funding in West Africa, our historical donor in accordance with the Foundation’s strategy. Needless to say that much has been done in favor of biodiversity. Had it not been for MAVA’s commitment, it would certainly have not been possible to be so peremptory. As one of the world’s leading philanthropists, MAVA has supported numerous conservation projects addressing threats such as human disturbance, oil pollution, infrastructure, lack of knowledge, bycatch and overfishing. We firmly believe that its legacy will live on through the community of conservationists it has inspired.

However, conservation challenges in West Africa remain huge and we must continue to act and act faster. We are going to do it better than we have in the past.

This New Year for PRCM is shaping up to be an exciting one, with new projects in the pipeline and new donors expected. We will be talking about this in the near future.

In the meantime, I wish you a happy holiday season and see you in 2023!

Enjoy your reading!

Ahmed SENHOURY, Executive Director of the PRCM
