In the face of the swift development of offshore oil and gas activities in West Africa and their possible impacts on biodiversity, it is important to put in place effective mechanisms to raise the awareness of decision-makers and other stakeholders on these issues.
It was in this sense that PRCM has produced, as part of the Project entitled “Sustainable Management of Offshore Oil and Gas Activities in West Africa (COBIA)”, a regional advocacy guide on the issues of environmental management of oil and gas activities in West Africa. The Guide is aimed at building the capacities of civil society organizations of its partners to better organize and contextualize their advocacy actions.
Actually, the Civil Society is an important lever in raising awareness among decision-makers.
Written in three languages (French, English and Portuguese), the Guide was unveiled on December 16, 2022 during a regional webinar. It is structured in two main sections, one on the analysis of the issue and the logical framework, and the other on the development of an advocacy plan on the issues of offshore exploitation in West Africa.
