RESILAO: Launch of the Second Call for Projects to Strengthen the Resilience of West African Coastlines

Following a successful first call, the PRCM, in collaboration with the FFEM and the WACA project, is launching the second call for projects under the regional initiative RESILAO. The objective: to support innovative local initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of coastal territories, ecosystems, and communities in West Africa.

Faced with growing pressures on West Africa’s coastal zones—rapid urbanization, overexploitation of natural resources, and the impacts of climate change—the RESILAO initiative, led by the PRCM in partnership with the FFEM and WACA, is taking a new step forward with the launch of its second call for projects.

The PRCM countries concerned by this call are: Mauritania, Senegal, Cabo Verde, and Guinea.

This call seeks to support concrete projects aligned with one of the following three themes:

  • Conservation and restoration of coastal ecosystems,
  • Development of sustainable value chains based on ecosystem services,
  • Promotion of innovative solutions to enhance the resilience of coastal areas.

Who can apply?

This second call builds on the success of the first launched in 2023, which funded around eight competitive projects across the sub-region, combining conservation, economic development, and social inclusion—particularly through blue and solidarity economies, and innovative solutions to major environmental challenges in the region (such as pollution).

This call targets committed stakeholders in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration, including NGOs, professional associations, community-based organizations, marine protected area (MPA) management bodies, research institutions, local authorities, private entities, and others.

How to apply?

Selected projects will receive financial support as well as technical assistance to strengthen their implementation capacity and encourage scaling up at the regional level.
