The Regional Partnership for Coastal and Marine Conservation in West Africa (PRCM) is extremely pleased with the decision taken by the Senegal Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy on Friday, July 21, 2023 to reject all new license applications submitted to it, in application for the first time of the recommendations of the Consultative Commission for the Allocation of Fishing Licenses (CCALP).

The PRCM would like to congratulate Mr. Papa Sagna Mbaye, Senegal’s Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, on this highly salutary decision for the sustainable management and exploitation of fisheries resources in Senegal’s exclusive economic zone of the country.

The PRCM encourages this dynamic, which places transparency at the heart of governance in the fisheries sector, and reaffirms its willingness to support the State of Senegal in joining the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FITI).
