Climatic changes

The West African coastal zone is home to a plethora of natural resources and habitats that play a vital role in protecting the coastal zone against erosion, pollution, sea-level rise, storms, and phenomena weather; However, it is one of the most vulnerable places in the world due to climate change.

Climate change will present a regional initiative aimed at strengthening West Africa’s coastal resilience through the identification and implementation of solutions based on nature. This will include promoting sustainable management of mangroves and other coastal ecosystems through the treatment, in an inclusive manner, of the different enabling conditions considered essential for their protection: science, sustainable practices, legal and institutional frameworks, and capabilities. PRCM and its partners pledgee to work towards adaptive measures to reduce climate changes effects on the coastal and marine zones.
